Principal Ben Webster addresses the students and staff on Thursday, September 11, 2025 during the 9/11 Remembrance
For the 24th anniversary of September 11th, La Mirada High School held a remembrance in the gym for students and staff. Donned in red, white and blue, the ceremony included the National anthem sung by Emily Dunlap, Brooke Godwin, Alejandro Prado and Jewelyssa Sermeno. Officer Mary Cipres spoke on the bravery and American spirit that prevailed that day and in the days after. She challenged each and every person to serve others. Principal Ben Webster spoke after and questioned, “What happened in the days after September 11, 2001? The country came together.” He commented about the unity and patriotism that citizens of the country exhibited. He continued, “You have gotten national news that is going to affect you. In 2025, we need to come together.” He added, “Please take time to thank the people around you and love the people around you.” Every year, adults that remember that day, want to continue educating the future generations of what happened and the resolve came out of a national tragedy.
