Dylan Devries, September Athlete of the Month, Water Polo
Sophomore Dylan DeVries has been a key player for the La Mirada boys’ water polo team this season, earning recognition as September’s Athlete of the Month for his leadership, effort, and scoring ability in the pool.

Dylan has only been playing water polo for two years, but his growth and dedication have made a major impact. His favorite part of the sport is shooting goals and that competitive drive has helped him become one of the team’s top offensive threats.
Head Coach Carolina Hernandez praised his performance, commenting, “Dylan always gives 100% at practice and in games. He leads the team as captain, keeps everyone united, and has the most goals on the team. He’s improved tremendously since summer, becoming a smarter, stronger player who helps his teammates succeed.”
Dylan says his most memorable moments come from, “the funny comments people make about water polo,” showing that he brings not just skill but also positivity and humor to his team. Outside the pool, Dylan enjoys watching wrestling, which he also competes in at La Mirada.
Looking ahead, Dylan hopes to continue playing water polo in college, taking his dedication and love for the game to the next level.
