The Girls Varsity Basketball team has made La Mirada High School history in their CIF playoff run in Division 5AA. The team, led by Senior Jirah Domingo, ended their regular season 18-5. The Matadores began postseason play dominating Orange Vista with a final score of 70-38 on February 8. The team pushed on to win versus Liberty with a score of 45-35. The team won versus Santa Ana in the CIF Quarterfinals with a final score of 53-32. The team was notified they qualified to compete in CIF State and the girls pushed on to play at Colton High School Saturday evening. The score stayed close the entire game but the Matadores run came to an end with a final score of 43-42. The team continued on in CIF State Playoffs, with a Round 1 win versus Gardena 55-35. On Thursday, February 29, the team played at Montgomery (San Diego) and historical season came to an end with a final score of 75-41.
