The final game of the football season was at home, played against League opponent Warren on Friday, November 1. Although a loss for the Matadores, with a score of 35 to 38, after halftime, it was a close game.
Senior Gavin Dionne shared, “[the final game] was probably one of the most fun games I’ve ever played. It was also bittersweet because it was my last time playing with this team and my last time playing under these coaches, but it was so fun.” Dionne added, “A highlight for me this season was playing with my little brother. That was one of my favorite things.”
“The game was exciting and got really hyped towards the end. But being a senior it got really sad knowing it was my last FNL,” added senior cheerleader Samantha Torres. Sharing her thoughts on the final game.
Players also shared their highlights of the season. Freshman Ryan Gonzalez expressed, “A highlight for us was when we played Dominguez and for me this game when I had a touchdown and fumble recovery against Warren.”
Sharing his final thoughts about his last season as a Matador, Dionne said, “This season I feel like we were more of a team and more of a family. We played better this season as a whole and there weren’t just a couple of guys playing, but it was us as a family.” The team’s bid for an at-large draw was not accepted.
