Jael Arreguin was named Athlete of the Month in November. Arreguin is a Senior on the Girls Basketball team, she is the Point Guard with the jersey number 3. She’s been playing basketball since elementary school, with NJB. “My favorite part is when our team has a good rhythm and we are making good plays over and over,” Arreguin shared. Her favorite memory so far was playing in the CIF Semifinals last year. Her favorite athlete is Austin Reaves, point guard for the Los Angeles Lakers. Arreguin hopes to continue her athletic career after high school. “I’m planning to play basketball and maybe even flag football,” she explained. Head Coach Vicky Luong commented, “Jael has been on Varsity all 4 years. She has been co-captain the past 3 years. Jael has been 1st Team All League the past 2 years. She is our Point Guard and helped lead the team in making school history last season. I am confident she will continue to excel this season and make big strides in her game.”
Eugene Escalona Henderson was named Athlete of the Month for November. He is a senior on the Boys Wrestling team and competes in the 190 lb. weight category. Escalona Henderson explained that his favorite part of wrestling is, “The physicality of it.” His most memorable moment so far was, “When I pinned the 21st ranked wrestler in California at the Don Two Tournament at Cerritos High School.” His favorite athlete is wrestler Bo Bassett, who is ranked #1 in the United States. Escalona Henderson plans to attend Cerritos or Rio Hondo and continue wrestling.
