Mr. Arenzana is our well known and respected Intervention Counselor at LMHS. Mr. A has been at La Mirada for 3 years, but has been working in the district for 23 years. Mr. A wanted to go into education to follow his grandfather’s footsteps as well as be a positive influence among the youth. Some skills he thinks are vital to being in this field are patience, especially when things don’t go as planned. He also believes in empathy when dealing with a diverse group of students. Finally Mr. A believes you need resiliency to keep up with the changing patterns of education. Some unknown facts about Mr. A, and they might turn some heads, is that he is an Eagle Scout and he used to play in a reggae/hip hop band. He even got to play at the House of Blues in Las Vegas! His proudest accomplishment is whenever a student leaves his office with a feeling of hope. A piece of advice Mr. A would give to his students is, “We all have “stuff” going on in our lives. We don’t have to solve our “stuff”, but when we learn how to deal with our “stuff” in a positive way, then we can really work on accomplishing our goals.”
