Christmas is always a major event to look forward to at the end of the year. One of the biggest parts of it are presents. Of course there is family time and celebration but everyone still ultimately looks forward to what they might get this year. One of the hardest things to do is pick the right present for the people you know, so how do you get the perfect present? It might be surprisingly easier than many think, and the answer might be cash.
Cash is not always a positive thing around Christmas time, money spent on gifts, decorations, celebrations, and vacation leaves some sour tastes in peoples mouths come January. But it poses one question some people quietly think about, is cash an acceptable present?
On one hand cash is really easy for many people to obtain in contrast to other gifts, often the most about of effort involves a trip to the bank. If the comparison is between that and waiting in line for toys that are flying off the shelves or hunting for specifically requested items for family and friends it almost seems like a no brainer. Especially when you consider that a lot of younger people prefer cash because they can either save it for another time or to even buy their own gifts. After all the best time to buy presents is December 26th.
Conversely sometimes it’s not necessarily a bad thing to get gifts from people. Even if it’s a funny sweater, a toy, or something you really wanted, people enjoy getting gifts. Gifting shows that someone is thinking about you and cares enough about you to get you something just because and a lot of times that’s enough. Many gifts also include return policies so if it’s an issue a return or exchange for something you want is possible. A Christmas around the tree opening gifts together is a hallmark of Christmas. Something like that can be ruined but the exchanging of cash rather than the opening of presents. Considering that shopping for gifts, gift wrapping and opening gifts under the tree are major parts of Christmas to some that’s replaceable.
In the end its up to preference, some people who don’t put so much stake into Christmas tradition should consider cash gifts instead as its more efficient and practical to give than gifts often times. As well as the fact that just because cash is replaced with gifts doesn’t mean other elements of Christmas disappear too. People who enjoy the traditional Christmas and the feeling it gives during the season should stick to what they are happier with. After all people can’t help but dream of the perfect Christmas seen in the holiday movies that are filled with the traditional aspects of Christmas. It’s equally reasonable to use cash because it’s practical as it is to stick with gifts because the happiness and feeling that the tradition brings may be worth more than cash could ever be.
Regardless of the method it’s most important to enjoy the season in the way that provides the best experience to the individual or individuals regardless of tradition old or new.
