Senior Kiersten Mahan was selected as the February Athlete of the Month. Mahan, #18, is a Senior Captain, playing Center Back for the soccer team, having been playing the sport for 12 years. Mahan shared, “My most memorable moment was winning CIF State against Sage Hill.” The team celebrated a first time win on Saturday, March 8 versus Sage Hill High School for the CIF State Southern California Regional Championship with a final score of 1-0. Head Coach Dave Christiansen commented, “She heads up the defense with exceptional play. Kiersten is one of our key players for set pieces and contributes to goals offensively.” Mahan plans to play in college but is not sure where yet.
Junior Tyler Mason was selected at the February Athlete of the Month. Mason is on the Wrestling team, competing at 126 lbs. He has been wrestling for four years and his favorite part is competing in the tournaments and winning matches. Mason expressed, “My most memorable moment so far was three-peat winning League with my team for the first time in school history.” Head Coach David Ostendi affirmed, “Tyler is an incredible athlete. He took third in CIF and sixth at CIF Masters. I look forward to what he accomplishes next year.” Mason hopes to wrestle in college but isn’t sure where yet. Mason also recently joined the Track & Field team and competed in the 400 meter race, with hopes to also run the 100 and 200 meters this season.
