La Mirada High School is proud to recognize Josiah Fregoso as one of our November Athletes of the Month. A dynamic junior running back, Josiah has been a driving force for the Matadores across the season. In addition to his role in the backfield, he contributed as a kick returner, consistently giving LMHS strong field position and momentum. According to MaxPreps data, Fregoso delivered multiple explosive plays throughout the year, showcasing his speed, vision, and ability to break through defenses.
Fregoso has been playing football for three years, and his favorite part of the game is “learning new plays and being able to execute them on the field.” One of his most memorable moments came early in his football journey—scoring his first touchdown in his very first game.
When asked about earning Athlete of the Month, Fregoso shared, “I feel honored and grateful to be chosen, it means a lot to me.”
His favorite athlete, Jahmyr Gibbs, inspires him because of his versatility as both a receiving threat and a running back—qualities Josiah strives to model in his own play. His favorite sports to watch are football and baseball, and he hopes to continue his athletic career in college, with USC being his dream destination.

Head Coach Lucas Mealy praised his impact both on and off the field, “Josiah played RB and kick returner for us. He was a key component towards our success. In our playoff game he had multiple big plays for us and created explosive plays the whole year. He’s a great young man off the field as well.”
Congratulations to Josiah Fregoso, our November Athlete of the Month—a hard-working, humble, and explosive player who represents what it means to be a Matador.
