December’s Athlete of the Month is Alana Marin, a junior center wearing #7 for the Lady Matadores. Even though this is her first year playing basketball, Marin has already made a strong impact on the program through her effort, attitude, and team-first mindset.

Marin says her favorite part of basketball is being with her teammates, and that connection showed early when she scored her first bucket—a moment she’ll never forget. A true multi-sport athlete, Marin also competes in cross country, track, and golf, bringing endurance, discipline, and competitiveness to everything she does.

Coach Nicie Moten praised Marin’s growth and character, noting that she is “an all-around student-athlete… admired by her peers and teammates as a team leader… always coachable, gives her 100%, and is eager to learn and grow.” From a CIF-Finalist in cross country to a key contributor on varsity basketball, Alana continues to represent the Lady Matadores with poise, passion, and pride.
